Ron Watson is Energex’s Group Manager Corporate Communication. Ron is an experienced communications and public relations specialist with a career that spans 40 years. His career started in journalism in Brisbane, and was soon drawn to politics and business reporting. This focus saw Ron earn a Fleet Street posting as European Bureau Deputy Chief for Australian Associated Press and then a stint with Reuters. Returning to Australia, he was appointed Deputy National Finance Editor for AAP before the magnetic pull of politics saw him become Senior Media Advisor to the Queensland Treasurer, and then Media Chief Of Staff to two Queensland Premiers. For the past 10 years, however, Ron has been Group Manager Corporate Communications for the south east Queensland based electricity distribution company, Energex.
